Not far from banaras city this Buddhist place where the Buddha gave his first sermon. Very well maintained , the stupas and the archeological site is worth a visit. The most enriching was visiting the Museum, i think one of the best maintained Museum in India.

Visit the Museum and have a look of our National Emblem, Lion Pillar. Only thing is that you can purchase replicas of Lion Pillar and other handicrafts, but do not purchase Silk Sarees in the shops. Better you visit Mehtaab Chand Pannalal' s showrooms near Gopal Mandir, Golghat Maidagin, which can be reached from Kalabhairav Mandir, Kotwaal of Varanasi.
