The tomb of I'timād-ud-Daulah, also known as the “Baby Taj” or a “jewel box” is a marvel of excess decor. Looking at it, one feels they are seeing a beautifully decorated cake made of marzipan. It is the tomb of a Persian advisor to the Mughal Emperors Akbar, and Jahangir and grandfather to Mumtaz Mahal (Shah Jahan’s wife). The whole... More

It may be smaller than its much more famous neighbor (the Taj Mahal), but it's well worth a brief visit. It doesn't have the crowds, it doesn't take long to see, and when you get up close to it you'll see that it actually has more extensive and elaborate marble inlay work than the Taj Mahal itself! It has earned... More

Most beautiful place, unbelievable the marble and gem stones and size, and you can see why it's one of the seven wonders of the works.

This a great stop. You don't need a lot of time. The exterior of the tomb is beautiful and full of detail. The grounds are not too big and you can view the river from the edge of the grounds. Make sure you bring exact change because they don't seem to have change.

Built by Nur Jahan, wife of Moghul emperor Jahingir, in memory of her father, the first mausoleum built in white marble. Worth seeing for the elegant design and the beautiful floral designs inlaid into.the marble using semi-precious stones.

This is a small structure, but well worth the time spent to stop for a visit. The grounds are well maintained, the overall area clean and well kept. Take the time to visit. You'll not regret the time spent. Just wandering around the grounds is enjoyable.

Small building but worth a visit. Amazed to see fine detailed work on the white marble. Should visit during evenings or early mornings. Very crowded approach roads during peak hours.

So beautiful. So compact. Such wonderful carvings and as usual a hauntingly wonderful story behind it. Go there.

Made in shape of a jewel box, it's an exquisitely carved monument built by Nur Jahan, the wife of Mughal king Jahangir (the son of Akbar) as a memorial to her own parents- Mirza Ghiyas Beg and mother Asmat Begum. Commissioned by Nur Jahan, Itmad-ud-Daulah was constructed between 1622 and 1628 . The mausoleum is situated a half kilometers upstream... More

After a long day we got to 'Baby Taj' not long before sunset and I was extremely surprised to see such a wonderful small temple and monument set in some lovely peaceful and serene gardens. The view also across the Yamuna River is great. We spent a good hour here just admiring the detail of the build and also peacefully... More
