Well-preserved palace of a well-loved king. The place: Thackalay near Marthandam, around 60 km from Thiruvananthapuram. The place will make you yearn for a time-machine that can take you back. More

It is definitely an exclusive architectural work showing great combination of Black granite & wood. Wooden carving is just like anything. One should have atleast 5-6 hours to visit this properly. App. 20 Km. from Poovar. Want to visit again. More

After visiting the huge palaces of Rajasthan this place does not even look like a palace. The worst part is that u have to go bare foot to visit this place called palace. Next door to the Temple is the former home of the Maharajahs of Travancore - a complex series of grand rooms full of historic artefacts, palanquins, thrones, weapons etc. Visit highly receommended. One of the last Maharajahs was very public-spirited and endowed a large park and the museum in the park. More
