This museum like most others in India has a lot to offer but presents a dismal picture because of poor maintenance, organising, and apathy in the public who visit it. If you have never been to a museum, you'll probably find it somewhat exciting to be here. Otherwise, this place will not take over half an hour to glance over.

The museum is very big - so one must have 3-4 hours to see it completely. The collection is amazing and includes separate collections from Europe and far east (including Japan). Must see.

Almost every single part of the museum did not have air conditioning or even a fan on. It was so hot we didn't even finish it. The bathrooms were awful. No soap or toilet paper like ever other public toilet which is fine. When I went there was only one stall open and no toilet seat then when you flushed... More

One could be spell bound by just witnessing three out of the innumerable treasures in the Salar Jung Museum. The cuckoo clock from where a person comes out and rings a bell at the stroke of the hour, the Veiled Rebecca (one has to see to believe the marble veil - It is so real! Especially the pattern of the... More

A fantastic array of artwork in the form of magnificent paintings , various historical art objects, carpets of various shapes and sizes can be seen over here. Security is very tight and mobile phones are strictly not allowed. There is a good canteen where eatables are available in plenty. A visit preferably in the morning half would be advisable, as... People say keep aside 2-3 hours to visit the museum...but it took us the better part of a day ... There is sooo much to go through...so carry boxed lunches /juice boxes/bottled water/tissues...little children may be fascinated with the miniatures...time pieces ..korans etc. Every hour is struck by a little man who comes out to strike the gong on a... Amazing collection of our historical pieces and a good experience knowing more about our country. Good place to go with family or friends. And watching the clock alarm was really an amazing experience

If you are on a holiday trip to Hyderabad, and travelling with children or parents, summer or winter, this is a place most liked by all. We visited the place last week with family and children, with weather extremely hot outside. But once you are inside, its cool. You get lost in a huge sea of good collections and its... More

A beautiful place to get lost in, like most beautiful museums around the world. The centerpiece however, is the wonderful clock specially made for the Nizam, that on the appointed hour a Tiger mauls a soldier (British ?). An exhibition of the Nizams Jewels was a real treat to watch!

A good collection of variety of items. I revisited this place after 15 years again. But this time I was disappointed seeing the improvements (?).
