Agencies and hostels will recommend this, but it's a huge waste of money and time. It's not a volcano; it's more of a man made hill with a 3-sq-m hole at the top for tourists to jump in. Once the other 10 or so participants in the tour hop into the mud, I was hesitant to jump in. You can... More

It’s a challenge getting up the steps to the top if, like me, you have sensitive/ticklish feet. And then down the rickety ladder into the pit. The mud was coolish when I was there so was a bit disappointed after hearing about how nice and hot it was going to be. The real challenge though is getting out, up an... More

i was skeptical when i read the reviews, but honestly it was one of the funniest, most interesting experiences of my life. yes, it's gimmicky and touristy but SO worth it. the feeling of that mud was something i've never felt. you pay extra (less than 2 dollars each) for a camera guy (who takes GREAT pics), massage in the... Our tour guide from Ruta Ecologia was 1 hour late. It was fast from there on but too fast - moving cattle along, it seemed. The luck part came into play when we realized we were the last tour group to go in the tiny mud pit which was packed with people as we were lining up. The pit itself... More

Absolutely thrilled I did this after hesitation. More unique and funny than you can imagine. Very strange way to spend some time with a bunch of strangers

This was a great experience. It's certainly a unique experience, and let's face it -that's what travel is all about. The mud volcano is about half way between Baranquilla and Cartagena... about a two hour drive, if I remember correctly. Take as little with you as possible, because really all you need is the cash it takes to go there,... More

It is quite something to be wallowing in this smooth mud - you kind of have to "swim" in it to get from one side to another. It is quite fun! Then you go to the river to wash it all off ... god only knows what tropical beasties are in that ... but it's been 10 days and no... More

This is one of the oddest feelings I've ever experienced! If you've ever dreamed about floating in pancake batter, you better do this tour! Be sure to take a lot of small bills with you. Every person who helps you will want $1000-$3000 pesos. (Like $0.50-1.50 USD). They are pretty helpful when you are covered head to toe in mud.... More

It's a 9-3pm affair, including volcano, lunch and beach. Booking trip through hotel, we paid $55,000COP per person, plus $5,000COP on site for photos and washing off. See if you can meet the bus somewhere and/or get dropped off earlier and walk to hotel rather than circling around bocagrande for extra half hour. ------------------- We took a tour directly from... I wasn't freaked out by the fact that we were completely buoyant and had quite a time trying to balance ourselves in the mud. Nor was it the fact that there was mud smeared all in my honey pot (read: va-jay jay). It wasn't even about the couple behind me, who (oddly) began to rub mud on me? (feeling on... More
