If you are interested in Chinese/Asian history, go here. This facility is British Museum/Smithsonian quality, in a manageable size. The facility is FREE, has good air conditioning (very important in Summer), had very good English labeling of exhibits, has audio tours in English, and has a 4th floor gift shop with many English/Chinese books (there is usually a book for... There's really not much to do in Wuhan (East Lake, Yellow Crane Tower, Botanical Gardens, Hubei Provincial Museum), so this is one you should do if you're in Wuhan for some reason or other. Not well known as a tourist town, Wuhan can be a bit intimidating: not much English is spoken here; it's polluted, especially in the summer; and... More

If you want to experience Chinese music at its historical best the Hubei Provincial museum is the perfect experience. The bells display is wonderful and very much centered on the visitor. Every museum we visited in China was very professional and done with the experience of the visitor the real focus of the exhibits. The highlight of the visit is... More

Amazing musical Instruments and their lacquered boxes and cases dating 2300 years ago. I've seen several world class exhibits in Xi'an, but this one in Wuhan compares greatly. More

Lots to see, especially the oldest chime bells. You can go to another building with a show using a replica of the chime bells and dancing. It was a little difficult to find the location and how to buy tickets. More

A superb museum situated on 3 floors. Immaculately presented, it contains a wide range of Chinese porclein, iron ware & interesting recreations of events in China many years ago. It contains the largest coffin for an important ruler one would ever see. Amazingly, the massive coffin housed another huge coffin, that actually fitted inside. Many delicate vases & bowls of... I really like the historical exhibits of the ancient musical instruments that was discovered inside a great tomb. We (our tour group) was treated to a 15 minutes musical presentation with authentic costumes and replica instruments. Theater was comfortable, and the music was outstanding.
