The East Lake is huge - besides the National Park, also try:
- Take a boat (those operated privately and paddled by a local farmer) gliding around the lake (100-200 RMB for a 45 min ride);
- Take a visit to Wuhan University, "the most beautiful campus in China", (if it's in the sakura/cherry blossom season, expect literally a million...
