the beaches in Vina del Mar are overrun with body to body. renaca beaches were less crowded and had more restaurants and lounging areas. More

Although several mornings were foggy, by the time the sun came out (3-5 pm??) the beach was packed and we loved hanging out with all the locals. In low season Reñaca is a small city of 80.000. Summer time grows to 300.000. Dangerous but nice beach, good restaurants. More

We found Vina del Mar full of down-market people whereas Renaca was a really nice place, and certainly more upmarket than Vina. Just a little north of the busy city of Vina Del Mar, Renaca is a quieter town just a short drive away. We stayed our last 2 nights in Chile here and enjoyed every minute of the breaking waves hitting the coast line. More
