I visited that few years ago..was told early 2012 it is closed due to the loss of few items ,thanks to the Ex First lady of the Egyptian Dictator Hosni Mubarak , one of the curators at the National museum said that Susan Mubarak loved few items and managed to get them in her personal collection ,which is not allowed... More

Its a must visit if you went to alexandria , I thought its gonna be boring to watch royal jewelry , I said one for the wife but no I really enjoyed my time there. More

This is actually a palace of the royal family. One of my favourites around. I wouldn't say it's a must see, but it's rather a "would see" place. Fully air conditioned, exhibiting some of the remaining jewelry of the Egyptian royal family. Besides, the atmosphere takes you back to that era. Besides, it is of a European French taste rather... I visited the Royal Jewellery Museum on Monday 17th January 2011. The cost to enter is 30 EGP for foreigners. There is a place to leave cameras which are not allowed inside. At the entrance I was handed cotton shoe covers to wear over my shoes. The museum building is amazing and throughly restored. It is the former royal palace... More
