The Potemkin Steps are considered to be one of the main attractions in Odessa and if you know the history and have watched the movie "The Battleship Pontemkim" it is a interesting place to visit. Personal I think Odessa have much more interesting attractions that are more amazing than the Potemkin Steps. If you are tired after strolling down the... More

Battleship Potyomkin is without a doubt a landmark of a movie so this steps is must see! Otherwise it is not too spectacular. View from the bottom is better then from the top. The sight of the cargo port is not spectacular if not ugly.

I still cannot get this: why these steps are so popular? These are just regular stone steps. If I knew that before, I wouldn't spend time going there.

Very interesting architectural landmark - from the top it looks lake it has same width for all of it length. When you look from the bottom you see that lower parts are wider that one at the top. Great film scene has been shot on these stairs - look up on the net!

It was great just to visit the historical sight. At top of stairs their are attractions of people with animals to take pictures with like a bald eagle. You have a great view of the sea port from their preferably better on a warmer day colder days the wind gets pretty chilly by the sea. It wasn't as long as... More

Fantastic part of Odessa history, built between 1837 and 1841, there are 200 steps which takes you down to the sea port of Odessa. Great photo location.

There is no special interest in the stairs itself. On the contrary, the boulevard where it ends up is a unique place to know why Odessian people are special, and the ends down leads you to the Harbor with also a great promenade.

This is the most iconic landmark that visitors look for in Odessa. The staircase itself is 27 metres high and extends for 142 metres however climbing up the flight of stairs gives people the illusion that it is much larger. Designed by Italian architect Francesco Boffo in 1825, the objective of building the stairs was to give people an optical... More

This place is very famous in Odessa. The nice view is available from the top. But the stairs are not too clean and I was expecting more from such famous place..

Many people seem to go into hysterics about this place, to me it was just a lot of steps leading from the harbour. Of course it is famous because of its history but apart from that ,(and the view from the top) nothing special. I did not like the hawkers at the top of the stairs parading their `Eagles` on... More
