It reminds me a bit of flea markets. you can get stationary, electronics, fruits, cooked foods, sweets, shoes, clothing etc. The market doesn't get fully setup until about 11am. More

No need to take the 3-hour (each way) bus trip to the Chichicastenango market. In Antigua's west side (near the bus terminal, to the left) is the Mercado de Artesanias that is open every day. This market is located about 4-5 blocks west of the main plaza right in front of the bus station. while not as enormous as the chi chi market,you can still find everything from tiles and a bathroom sink to toys, textiles, tee shirts, and handcrafts.
