My husband and I visit the Mercado de Artesanias after walking around the market right on the other side of the street. We were surprised to find some crafts and and textiles we haven't seen before in other markets around Antigua. The place was clean and quiet. It was very enjoyable. More

this market is down past the post office and easy to miss if you think the outdoor market is the artesanias market. If you walk further down, on the left is an entrance to an indoor market with shops and stands and courtyards to sit in. After being in ChiChi which was great but honestly, this experience was less frantic... More

I write my review with the intention that you should go, that said it is a tourist driven market. The stalls sell many of the same goods, so know going in not to buy from the first vendor that you see. The price and quality will vary. Also keep in mind the "best price" is not always their best price,... More

Living in Antigua for 6 months each year one becomes accustomed to the needs of tourism to support the community and the area. My wife and I shop for all local goods. We have become experts at spotting fake Weaving and Imports sometimes offered as the real thing. Last year we had place mats and napkins made in the Village... More

This Market is not only in an accessible, attractive part of town, but it also houses some of the most incredible textiles I have ever seen. I cannot stress enough how wonderful the textile section is, although I was underwhelmed by the other art (paintings, carvings, marionettes, masks). As an artist myself I was fascinated with this place and saw... More

Wonderful selection in a nicely designed facility. But just know the prices here will be higher than elsewhere, although the variety and selection is a microcosm of the entire country. It should be everyone's last market visit in the country. Be sure to compare prices with the many vendors on the street between the artesanias mercado and the "regular" mercado.... More

If you didn't make it to chichicastenango, this is a quick way to shop for souvenirs. A brisk 10 minute walk from parque central, the mercados Artesanios is a complex of over 100 shops selling all kinds of handicrafts - textiles, pottery, leather etc. Walk round, bargain with the shopkeepers and rest your tired feet by sitting on one of... This is the place where you can get your Guatemalan souvenirs. There are plenty of vendors to chose and bargain from. I purchased presents for my friends and family at this market. More

No need to take the 3-hour (each way) bus trip to the Chichicastenango market. In Antigua's west side (near the bus terminal, to the left) is the Mercado de Artesanias that is open every day. The Mercado de Artesania is a contrentration of over 100 colorful vendors/stalls selling souveniors, paintings, wood carvings, hand woven bags, jade/silver jewelry, ceramics, t-shirts, woven... More
