Whether you visit when the roses are covering the cottages or not, it's worth a visit. Quaint and historical.
We rented a jeep and headed out to our favorite spot -- S'conset. The walk along the crushed shell pathways that overlook the sea are most charming when the roses are blooming and cover the walls and sides of the charming cottages. It's a long strip of sand with lots of seaweeds in it. If you stay on the island for several days, you may visit it, otherwise spent your time in the village. There are lots of prettier beaches on Cape, RI, CT, never mind Hamptons.
