The waves never slow down here! The houses near the beach are so wind and sand blown from the onshore wind. The beach itself is gorgeous and we'd love to return at sunset as the beach faces west.

Secluded, nice waves, beautiful sand, warm temperature. Long drive unless you live in Madaket, but well worth it.

Once among the broadest beaches, with lovely dunes, Madaket Beach has been hard hit with storm damage and erosion, including the heartbreaking loss of homes. But it remains a substantial strand, great for long walks... and sunset shows no erosion!

Took the bus, walked two minutes to the bluff overlooking the sea, watched the sunset, had pizza and a beer at the West End, caught the bus back. My idea of a lovely evening.

It's a beautiful area but erosion has reclaimed the beach to the sea. The dunes are eroding, also and homes are in jeopardy. The sunsets are still magnificient.

We read that Madaket Beach has world-famous sunsets so that is where we headed to! We found out sunset was at 6:03pm (in Oct) and got there at 5:45pm.
There is no parking lot and very few (maybe for 3 cars) parking spots on the side road. The beach is not within walking distance from town.
