You don't have to be Jewish to appreciate this incredible cultural treasure in the Connecticut River Valley -- although it doesn't hurt to be literate! I agree with other reviewers that viewing the short video about the Book Center's creation is a must -- the story of Aaron Lansky's search for Yiddish books is incredibly moving.

Fabulously educational, moving and entertaining; all at once. If you only have an hour, stop in to view the movie about the history ofthe centre and bio of the founder, Aaron Lansky. If you have a full day, even better. The peaceful setting and magnificent architecture transport you back to an old Eastern European Jewish village; a Shtetl. The staff...

Beautiful atmospheric architecture. Carefully chosen details throughout add to feeling of a unique creation. A meaningful link to a past world, thoughfully done. Well worth a trip to Amherst.

If you are interested in Jewish history, this should not be missed. Plan on spending at least half a day there and don't miss the grounds.
