My standard drive car easily negotiated the 3 miles of unpaved and rutted roads in the park, but I was happy I was not visiting in a rain storm when there is probably deep mud. The $8 per person admission did not seem too bad for all the maintenance this park must need. More

No flowers (wasn't season). Saw alligators swimming in a pond LOL. Someone fishing on the bayou. Watch out for the mosquitoes and other biting insects around the Cleveland Oak and Buddah. Other than that? Peaceful, pretty drive. More

Great natural area. Alligators, turtles, birds and more. Get close to nature--really close to alligators! More

Gardens is a loose term I think. Its mostly trees and greenery. You will get the chance to see many gators. It would be a great place for a picnic. **Bring bug spray** The mesquitos can be quite bad. More

We had a great time on this tour. Self guided and you can take as much or as little time as you wish. We went early and that was a great decision since there were school busses when we were leaving. Magnificient trees (kids enjoyed climbing on them) and some older than the USA. Wildlife, and botanical were all around.... More

We could have stayed in there all day. So much wildlife to see and trails to walk. Spend the day there if you can, one of the highlights of our trip. More

We live about 20 miles from Avery Island and Jungle Gardens is one of my favorite places to visit. We go fairly often. My girls love to look for alligators and other wildlife. Bird City, within the gardens, is truly unique. Hundreds, if not thousands of migratory birds (snowy egrets) nest there each spring. I have never been anywhere like... More

Pretty grounds. Probably not worth $8 a person, but was worth checking out. Kids enjoyed it and even spent quite a bit of time looking at the birds (they have never expressed much interest in birds). Actually, they were watching an alligator swim over to the birds and they thought they might see him try to eat one of the... More

We were in Lafayette visiting friends and told them that we wanted to visit the Tabasco Factory on Avery Island, they said that we shouldn't miss Jungle Gardens while we were there (it is literally the only other public driveway on the island). It was worth visiting. It is a self pace drive around the 'gardens'. It is very beautiful... More
