Today, its stage hosts classical music, theater and dance performances—and they’re incredibly affordable. If you can’t make one of the performances, at least make time to check out the beautifully restored and preserved space.  « less

but was closed for restoration when we visited. Still worth a look and maybe it will be open soon. Located near Plaza Bolivar.

They restored and although it is a small theater it is special and beautiful. A wonderful experience. The seats are comfortable.

I recommend visiting the place for a play or music concert. It will take you back in time while enjoying art, architecture and music.

If you can´t get a ticket to a performance try and get inside to have a look. The theater is in the old part of the town so it can easily be part of your walking tour.

This theatre appears to have been beautifully restored,as a fitting monument to the arts in Panama. You should certainly include a visit in your Panama tour schedule.

An elegant historic building. The gold interior reflects a bygone era. I think it's worth going inside.

Pretty. We didn't see a performance there, but the fresco's on the ceiling and the entire theater are lovely outside and specially inside.

This hundred + year old grand theater is still used for performances and rivals most European opera houses for style and grandeur, if not size. For $1 you can enter and spend as much time as you wish examining the architecture and fancy construction. Also, it is a relatively cool(er) place to escape the Panama heat for awhile.

Just off the water, this building is sublime. The front doors with their brass fixtures are now my cellphone wallpaper. Be sure to stroll from there along to the waterside promenade and back to the Plaza de la Francia.

Last thursday we visit the theater with a Canadian couple, she was originally from Russia and described all art pieces, Roberto Lewis Painting on the ceiling of 1907 and the foyer of wooden floors, and great walls and ceiling decor. Ask in any hotel about the theatre program...must see a show there.
