Today, its stage hosts classical music, theater and dance performances—and they’re incredibly affordable. If you can’t make one of the performances, at least make time to check out the beautifully restored and preserved space.  « less

If you are staying in Casco Viejo try and see something at the Teatro. If not be warned that parking and traffic will be a nightmare before and after shows. More

We were walking around in the Casco Viejo and happened by this theatre.....was initially attracted by an open door with cold air blowing out to the street.....it was HOT outside. We walked into the building and saw that we were in the Teatro National. This very small, intimate theatre has been completely redone within the past two years or so.....it... More

If you have the opportunity to attend a performance, go. This reminds me of one of the theaters in San Francisco, CA. They were built about the same time in the early 1900's. Restoration was completed about 10 years ago. Some days it is open to the public to peak inside. Absolutely beautiful. More

Lucky to see inside and it is like any of the old European houses, only in miniature. Big draw-back is that it is very difficult to find out what or when there will be a performance and website is not helpful. More

Teatro Nacional is located in Casco Viejo -- a fabulous slice of old Panamanian life. It's in a transitional area currently balancing modernization with intermittent ramshackle buildings. It's spectacular for performances and if you get a chance to attend one while in Panama, you'll not regret it. More
