This lake is a volcano crater, which is super cool. Also cool is the temperature of the lake...literally cool and pleasant. Lake Coatepeque is a very special place. It is peaceful and beautiful. There are some neat restaurants on one part of the lake. You can rent seadoos. Make the effort and go!

It's large enough to create privacy between houses, but small enough to feel intimate. The water isn't too cold, and it's crystal clear--perfect for swimming. There is a little private island in the middle of the lake that you... More

I really enjoyed my visit here. There were delicious restaurants serving cheap seafood (that was yummy!). The drive in was a bit rough as we followed a slower car.

I didnt see the lake closer than over looking it from some great view points. This shot was taken, as we climbed the Santa Ana volcano. BTW!! Is you get to El Salvador, climbing this volcano is a blast. Best thing I ever did.

A lake with fresh water at a temperature which makes you feel like you are in your own biggest swimming pool anyone could possibly build.

This lake has several restaurants on stilts over the water. The restaurant we went to even had a place where you could wade in the water in the center of the restaurant. Beautiful views. This lake is basically a tropical version of Crater Lake in Oregon.

Coming into Lago de Coatepeque there are some fantastic views of the lake and surrounding area. Lots of little restaurants and viewpoints. But once you get to the bottom of the road down to the lake it's dirt road in either direction. The worst part is that there are private homes all the way around the lakeshore and every one... More
