For a couple of dollars you are given access to a small room ringed with perhaps 40 stations. One reads the story then views the exhibit in a glass case thru a magnifying tube. Imagine a human hair hollowed out to be transparent and a miniature rose inserted. Just mind boggling.

I have seen miniatures from the Victorian age done with the scales off of butterfly wings and they were pretty spectacular. This collection, however, raises the bar. These are tiny sculptures or paintings that you must look through a microscope lens to see. Two particularly stand out - one was a gold ship complete with sails and the other was... More

Think this cost like £1/£2 max and it does only take 5 minutes to go around but it is incredible how small the art work is! A must see!!

Try and go with an English speaking guide. This artist is absolutely incredible. I would recommend trying to go early, as the gallery is rather small and if you get stuck behind a tour group, it would take a very long time to get through the collection.

I genuinely thought this would be very boring. There's many things to see in the region and this was last on my list but my friend convinced me. It is cheap, doesn't take long to get through and is absolutely amazing to see!

We went to Pechersky Lavra rather late so didn't make it down to the caves - that will have to wait until another visit. The various museums were closing and it was getting too dark to see so we thought we'd see that the microminiatures were about. I could have spent hours there - there were a limited number of... For only 10 grivas, or 1 euro, you only need 15 minutes to get through this museum, and it's absolutely impressive! The exhibits, all microminiatures created by a Ukrainian artist, is a very novel art you won't see anywhere else. It's on the Lavra Monastery grounds so make sure to combine the visit.

Saw amazing art carved into a strand of hair, placed on the head of a pin, and other really cool things. You view through magnifying lenses, but can also see the actual size of the object. Worth seeing!
