Gorgeous example of Brancovenesc architecture, currently being lovingly restored. I was delighted to observe the pride that Romanians have in their national treasures. Definitely worth a visit ( and well located just up the street from Caru cu Bere!) More

A beautiful church, right in the centre, with a beautiful array of icons and frescoes. Still very much alive, and the day I was there we witnessed an Orthodox shotgun wedding. Apparently, there is a different, more austere ceremony when the woman is pregnant, which involved beautiful singing and circling the altar. Just stood quietly at the back and watched... More
