The rafting experience itself is quite enjoyable, but I've been living in Ollantaytambo for the past year and recently begun renting a house on the river. A little investigation into the plumbing system in my house revealed that my toilet dumps all its waste directly into the Patacancha river, which itself feeds directly into the Urubamba river. I was a pretty nervous but it was definitely thrilling! I don't have much experience with river rafting. The guides seem to know what they were doing. We did a three day trip.
