You have to buy a ticket to the Huayna Picchu to visit. The entry is either 7-8am or 10-11am for a total of 400 people pr day. Most people would do the loop to visit the mountain top and the Temple of the Moon. If you want to visit just the Temple you need 3 hours round trip using the... More

We signed up for the regular HP hike, departing at 10 AM with a private guide. The regular hike was okay - fairly crowded and a bit like being on a stair master for an hour in the woods, but leading to very nice views of MP. Our guide then lied to us and told us that we had two... More

After the Wayna Picchu hike, we decided to take the full loop hike back to the entrence. This hike is way harder than we had expected (26 year old and very active). You will be totally isolated and trekking through tropical vegetation. It was really neat but I would urge anyone not ready for a very intense hike to reconsider. More

If you are doing the Wayna Picchu hike, you will come to a fork in the road with the option of going to the top of the mountain, or going to the moon temple. Go to the moon temple first. We did this while all the others scrambled to the top and we got to enjoy the moon temple and... More

After ascending to Huayna Picchu and getting to the top, we decided to go back to the main site through a different route. We were tired but very excited to have made it all the way to the peak! Little did we know that there was more hiking to do. The road to the Moon Temple is kind of isolated,... More

We climbed up Huayna Picchu and then decided to visit Temple of the Moon (signposted the Cave from the top of HP) on the way back. This was a tougher walk than we had thought - you have to hike down steep slopes with little protection, and climb down a long wooden ladder before then hiking back up and walk... More

After stepping up the 12-18" steps all the way up to Wayna Picchu, it was a pleasant surprise to find that the route down around the back side to the Temple of the Moon were so much smaller at 6 to 9". A couple of exciting places with a cable to hold on to in a steep area and a... More
