It is actually a war museum with the gold part in the basement, no elevator, we were offered to have the wheel chair carried down and up the steep stairs, not recommended and we left disappointed without entering the gold museum but paid full amount More

We hired a guide when we paid our admission. There were one or two unofficial guides that were hanging outside the museum. I recommend getting one, around $20USD. He helped explain some of the artifacts and gave us a quick overview of everything. Over 35,000 pieces in the military display (upstairs), downstairs is where the gold artifacts (over 11,000 pieces).... More

This museum is harder to get to, is quite expensive to visit and, according to some sources, has imitation artifacts as well as real. The layout , especially of the weapons, is not very good. More

I went specifically to see the gold displays and was suprised at the 33 soles entrance fee. Unknowingly I paid that one hour before they closed and did not get to see even half of the museum. I asked for a partial refund and they just laughed. If the lady selling the tickets would have warned me it was so... More

I had a similar experience with recieving counterfeit change. So be warned...when you recieve change from here make sure you look for the waterprint or feel it compared to a real note...the counterfeit one feels like plastic in comparison. The collection is very impressive but not well laid out. More

Both the gold and arms sections are incredible collections but they are very poorly labeled and displayed. This could be a world class museum if they invested in the display, added labels and hired a good curator. It was a nice way to spend an afternoon looking at cool stuff, but don't expect to learn much, unless you pay for... More
