We returned from Machu Picchu on the train and loved the ride. Too bad it does not go all the way to Cusco.

We returned from Machu Picchu on the train and loved the ride. Too bad it does not go all the way to Cusco.
A very nice old fashion train, a magnificent way to discover the Andes and to take a lot of outstanding pictures. An opportunity to drink a lot of "pisco sour", and a very nice dining experience. The dishes are served by waiters with white gloves, and the dishes are kept warm with silver dish-covers. "La grande classe" ! After lunch,...

After a bad experience on Inka Rail coming from Cusco we decided to come back on the Hiram Bingham. If you want the best, you have it right here on this train. All the comforts are there, food excellent, service spectacular, entertainment super fun and the best way to go.
Unfortunately we only travelled at night and because of a problem with the track instead of travelling four hours we only had two hours and finshed trip by bus. However it was lots of fun with live music and pisco sours. Food was average but the waiting service was excellent. Worth the experience.
If you want a comfortable, luxurious voyage to Machu Picchu then nothing beats this train. The staff goes above and beyond. The food is AMAZING! The musicians keep you entertained so the hours just fly by. Highly recommended!
The service and atmosphere on the Hiram Bingham were exceptional. My wife had gotten sick just before our planned depature, and they were able to accomodate her on the train the next day, and made sure that both of us felt welcome and were genuinly interested in her progress. Aside from that part, the atmosphere on e train was fun...

Enjoyable experience, nice scenery! The train ride was included in our 2 week tour package but I understand it is quite expensive so I don't know that the cost would be worth it since the thrill really is seeing Machu Picchu. I would have liked to spend more time at the ruins. We were on a guided tour, up and...

First, let me say the Hiram Bingham is a wonderful experience, and I would recommend anyone do it once. The train is beautiful, and meal, while not really restaurant quality, was certainly acceptable, and service was excellent. The train portion was exceptional, and we had a wonderful time.
The problem is, during May & June, there was a problem with...

For cost considerations, we chose to take the Hiram Bingham up to Aguas Calientes and return the next day on the Vistadome. I was really glad we had made that decision. The excitement and anticipation of heading up to the marvel of Machu Picchu is heightened by the luxurious train ride. The service and food were spectacular. The music referred...

Way too expensive for a 2-hour train ride. The food was ok, but you pay through the nose for what you get - good and attentive service, good food and wine, and that's about it. There was no music when we were on board. And the 1 1/2 van ride is plain awful. Disappointing.
