Take at least the 2 day trip into the Canyon from Ariquipa. You climb to 16000ft over the altiplano and will see hundreds of Llamas, Alpacas and Vicunas. Load up on coca tea and take things very easy. The valley around Chivay is incredible with all the terracing that was constructed for farming. As you head further into the Canyon... More

We travelled to Colca Canyon from Arequipa by road following a winding but pretty smooth road that climbed up into the Andes past Misti, Chachani, and the Ampato volcanoes. The scenery of this route is stunning and there is plenty of opportunity to spot llamas, alpacas and vicunas. You reach a high point of 4,200 metres before dropping down into... More

The ride upto Colca Canyon is a trial but well worth it. More and more tourists are slowly changing the experience but the sight of condors against the magnificent backdrop of the canyon is worth the trip up the canyon. The scenery and grandur of the valley and canyon make for spectacular views and a step back into history.

The view is spectacular and the road to the Colca Canyon is filled with miradores, pampas to see vicunas and alpacas, pre-incan villages. It's worth visiting and highly recommended

Do the 2 days 1 night trip to the colca canyon. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND colonial tours! PAY EXTRA to stay at a place called POZO DEL CIELO (it's worth the BEAUTIFUL/ELEGANT/SOLID sleep you will get). BRING your camera, your binoculars, and your trekking shoes. Best of all bring your dreams, because you will see them come to life in this... More

First and foremost - this was an awesome trek. Prior to this trek I had only done guided tours and I am very comfortable saying you do not need a guide for this tour. However, because the route we took is a somewhat less popular trek, navigation can be a little unclear so here are our details. Hopefully they help.... More

We did a 3 day/2 night trip with our family (2 kids ages 7 & 9). I would strongly suggest doing this trek as a 3day/2 nights because you cover the same ground if you do 2 day/1 night and it's too much hiking and no relaxation. We met other hikers who did 2 day/1 night and complained that it... More

I have just got back from the 3 days, 2 nights tour of the Colca Canyon with Peru Schweiz. I cannot recommend this company enough. Our guide was great, he kept the group together and rallied us up and down the mountain. He was quick to act when one of the girls was very ill and even made sure she... More

Colca Canyon was beautiful, but we were too sick with altitude sickness to appreciate it. It is worth going to, but make sure you have altitude sickness prevention meds with you.
