We crossed this Park on our way to Guayaquil . The views are spectacular and we were able to see lamas , wild horses ( we think ) and lots of birds . We did notice though a big difference in temperature between the lower part and the high areas of the park ,close to 10 Celsius ( 16 Farenheit)

We were able to see this park on our way from Guayaquil to Cuenca. It has a very large lake and would be good for hiking.

It all depends on the guide! We had a great guide with us, he pointed out the miniature plants on the way, very similar to what we found in Patagonia, miniature forests with a complete ecosystem in a few square feet. Of course the obvious is gorgeous, the lake system, we walked around the Torreadora and enjoyed the scenery, clean... More

My husband went on a fishing trip while I went along for the ride. It was a gorgeous place to visit, although can get windy and chilly so be sure to take plenty of jackets. We also visited last year and went to the Visitor Center, which is very well done and very educational.

There was nothing about it to not like, the weather was great and the hiking was even better, beautiful lakes, flowers and not very many people. Found a nice little lunch spot which purchased in town before we drove out to the park.

I spent a day hiking two mountain lakes. We stopped at the first restaurant on the right side of the road, just past the second security gate west of the park. Got off, had a few warm drinks, then crossed the road and hiked about 1 hour to reach our first lake. Another hour later, we reached another lake above... More

This is the only stop that the bus to Guayaquil makes, and is a very nice introduction to the Cajas. As suggested by the rangers, it's really important to take this at a slower pace than you would think you need to, because of the elevation. We looked at the peak across from the ranger's station and felt that we... More

My partner and I did a day walk (number 3 on the park map) from Cuenca. Very easy to get to, only about an hour from town to the info centre and very scenic trip. Landscape is stunning, granite tors, alpine tarns, tussock covered hills, llamas, lots of birds, and we only saw a couple of other people all day.... More
