This is an interesting visit where you can get a photo in front of the monument and a sign depicting the equator. It draws a lot of tourists so they have no incentive to tell you that it's not really the equator. For $2, I still take visitors there before we go next door to Museo Intiñan. GPS shows the... More

This is a pretty good attraction, but it is NOT the centre of the world, this is 300 yards down the road in a scientific area. However the idea is great and there are lots of artisan shops with cheap local goods of reasonable/good quality. Plenty of good cafe's and live shows at weekends/holidays etc. A real good tourist area... More

Touristy, gimmicky but well worth it. Go and grab a picture of yourself straddling the Equator, have your passport stamped and send a cheesy postcard. Lots of hand made arts and crafts, plenty of galleries and information about the area. Tip - take sun cream. More

It took a while to get to La Mitad del Mundo but we liked hanging out there for two hours or so. It's a tourist trap, sure, and not even the real position of the equator, but what else would you expect? Visit the museum next door for some cool information on indigenous tribes, including two real human heads displayed,... More

Okay so honestly this isn't really worth it, costs two dollars to get into the park. Pretty much the only thing is the picture of the monument (going up the monument is an additional 3$). It is kind of a money pit..and a bit hoaky. Also, not the actual site of La Mitad de Mundo. More

There are regularly running buses from Quito at the Metrobus blue line north terminal that are .15 cents per person. Just look for the signs and then ask someone on the bus or driver to indicate where to get off, it's at a roundabout 40 mins from town. The big flashy French monument is $2 to enter. They have some... More

Mitad Del Mundo Y Mindo (Middle of the earth) The great big beautiful monument and ecuador line at this attraction is wonderful and there's great stuff to see but it's not the REAL ecuator. The real Middle of the earth is about a five minute drive from there and unless you are told or someone (our taxi driver) takes you... More

IF you're in Quito and you don/t bother going the extra distance to witness this site, you've missed the great opportunity to brag to all your friends for the rest of your life that you actually stood smack in the middle of the world! and if you are looking for one spot to find an Ecuadorian souvenir, you'd have tons of... Dont bother with coming here. Its just a tourist trap and not even on the equator line. Go to Museo de Sitio Intinan instead. The actual equator line runs through it. More
