The central bank museum is pretty basic.
It tells a lot about the history of money, trading etc. and as far as I remember they do got some of the text in English. But not quite sure..
It also tells about how money were made in Ecuador, and the change from Sucre to Dollars.
Remember small change. Tried to pay...

This is a must see museum. It is very very well done and an important place in this city. The outside of the building is a turn-off but the inside is spectacular.

one could spend a whole day here, viewing the prehistoric artifacts and also the differences in the indigenous culture before the Incas and Europeans ruled the land

Great museum (all in Spanish) displaying the history of "money" in Ecuador from very primitive pre-Columbian times to the present with examples. Interesting to follow changes through colonial period through today including the process of minting coins. Didn't know that in the early 1930s their money was made at the Philadelphia mint. Student discounts available.

Well worth a visit. A lot of really interesting displays relating to the various indigenous people and tribes over the millenia. Allow yourself plenty of time.
No photos, no rucksacks, no cafe.

The collection of ancient art (pre-Inka and Inka) is magnificent, however the way it presented to the visitors is poor. Bad lighting, almost no signs, very limited information about the articles. One must admit that the exposition at Metropolitan Museum in NYC is way better.

Free, could have spent 3 days here, could do with a coffee shop, there is so much to see, safe walking distance from Reina Isabel.
