If you want to visit the Amazon, I highly suggest La Casa del Suizo on the Napo River in Ecuador. The approx. four hr drive from the capital makes it worthwhile. If you want to see the rainforest in all it's glory, take a cruise on the Napo river in Ecuador. The Napo is a tributary to the Amazon. It is wide, shallow, muddy and ever changing.
