I second the commenter about pickpockets. I fell victim to one of these rascals in 2009, please be sure to fasten / hide your wallets. my husband called a cab fro the hotel to the airport, when he helped the driver to put the luggage in the trunk he bumped into him, we didnt know the cab driver took the money in his pocket....we only figured it out when we were about to pay the taxi driver and the money was missing, unfortunately we didnt...

Geylang has some nice food outlets n hawker centres. Pretty laid back n interesting. Though certain parts of Geylang are a bit shady at night, overall a good place to chill out over some cheap hawker food n browse thru' some shops at leisure. Some shopping complex looks dated but hey this is not Orchard Rd n u won't find...
