Guide told me that Tarsiers can live 20 to 25 years in the wild. In petting zoos they tend to last only 2 years or so. That's probably because the zoos are open during the day and the tarsiers are nocturnal, which means they don't get much sleep during the day in petting zoos. Anyhow, this place is a no-touch... Tarsiers are animals with a huge "cuddleablity" factor. The're interesting to watch and by paying them a visit you contribute to their preservation. Be sure NOT to use flash photography with these nocturnal animals More

Having visited this part of the Philippines several times, I have seen the process that the local government worked to improve the facilities and safety of the tourist and the animals. Years ago, anybody can touch and hold these soon-to-be endangered miniature mammals, now, the sanctuary has created a system to allow people to get a close up view, take... More

Tarsiers are endnagered species - to be treated as mere tourist exnibits is cruel to the hapless creatures. Misnomer - they don't really take good care of the animals - unique primates. More

Maybe I am not that fond of monkeys that's why it didn't strike me that much when I saw them. Well, at least, I saw them already up close and personal and that's enough for me, and considering the 50pesos entrance I paid to see these primates would made me think that it is no longer worth repeating for. I... More

We went here on a day trip of the area, driven in a car from the hotel in Alona Beach. The sanctuary is small but easy to get around and the staff are waiting to take you to each tarsier and explain about them. They are tiny, but we could see them clearly and the staff told us so much... More

This was a quick walk around a gated jungle/sanctuary for tarsiers. It was also a good chance to get close to a tarsier. These animals are only about 3-4 inches long (excluding the tail) that an employee had to point the animals for us. We saw 3 of them through the 10 minute walk and gained a little more info... More
