Whilst you visit the main temple (Shiva) at Prambanan it is definitely worth visiting this temple too. It is smaller than the main temple, but beautiful none the less. Parts of the site have lots of bricks stacked up where it has fallen down. But a lot does remain in tact and you can still go in side. You can... More

What an absolutely delightful place. We hopped on the little green "train" just outside the Prambanan entrance which trundled us through beautifully maintained gardens past a couple of temple ruins which are obviously undergoing some restoration and were let off at the Sewu Temple site. Although much of this Temple is in complete ruins, there were countless beautiful carvings, statues... More

The temple is now under renovation but still worth a visit if time is on your side. Can take a cheap IDR 5,000 ride there from Prambanan internal transpotation. More

You can take the free 'train' to this temple which really is within walking distance away from the main complex of temples at Prambanan. The 'train' will stop for five minutes at Sewu--enough for you to take some photos--or it will come by every 15-20 minutes, we were told, to pick people up. (Note: We were there about 8:30am on... If you go to Prambanan then also visit this temple. It is very beautiful in itself - not just as a comparison to the Shiva/Vishnu/Brahma temples ('Prambanan'). It appears to be more compact than Prambanan. I have uploaded a couple of photos - a person standing on the entrance steps looks enormous if you are thinking that the outline of... More

When I visited as part of a day out to see Borobudur and Prarmbanan I had no idea of the existence of Candi Sewu until then. Huge amounts of it are sdaly just piles of stones, although clearly resoration is clearly underway. The bits that have survived the volcanic activity and earthquakes over the last 1200 years are wonderful, and... More

Usually not all the tourists who visit Prambanan, visit this temple as well as Ratu Boko. But I recommend that one should spare a day for these temples. Usually half day tours are conducted. I recommend to take your own vehicle: bike or a car so that you have a liberty to pass the whole day with a view of... More

This is an amazing temple that seemed to have about 3 other visitors in the 2 hours I spent there. Its highly recommended during your visit to Prambanan. We actually took lunch and ate there. Most visitors seem to simply pull up on the tram, take a photo and leave. Without walking in and around the temple. Its actually the... More
