This is a beautiful place! I REALLY enjoyed my time here! We had a great time hiking in the rain-forest (amazing trees!), exploring tide pools and swimming in clear water on white-sand beaches where we were all alone. This park has some of the loveliest beaches I've seen yet. We also 'canoed' for about an hour up a river which... More

Great adventure and fishing! do not wish an excellence 5 stars hotel service, the best thing you can get is a small resort in Umang island but, it's a nice resort, I think. If you wish to get some great adventure such as trekking, snorkeling and fishing... well, you wouldn't miss it. you may leave your boy/girl friend behind but,... More

Went there with some friends using elf buses, the trip from Jakarta is quite long depending on the traffic condition, travelling time varied between 7-13 hours from Jakarta to Peucang Island (UK). We stayed at Peucang Island, the main island which has hut/cottage to rent. Each main house has around 8 rooms and a shared living room. The cottages surround... More

Thought it's no longer possible to find natural forests on Java island? The last vestiges are here, at Ujung Kulon National Park. The park is rather difficult to get to, but if nature is what you are after, it is very much worth the visit. At the time of this writing, the road from Sumur to Taman Jaya (last village... More

I've just come back from a four-day visit to Ujung Kulon. On this occasion I was doing research there (into tourism and management) but I've been there several times before leading tour groups. Tourism facilities are minimal, with small homestays at Sumur and Taman Jaya (on the edge of the park), two hotels nearby, and a guesthouse on Peucang Island,... More
