I had read a lot of the history of the Nanjing Massacre before hand and this place made it all come alive. I was glad I had not come with a tour group so I could wander along at my own pace. It is very near a metro station, so public transport is easy. I came twice, two days apart... More

I am so thankful for all of the English translations throughout China, including that of the Nanjing Massacre. The memorial is one that should not be missed, it is a bit redundant in the signage, but it a definite must see. More

It's a sombre reminder of the gruesome events that took place in Nanjing. Over 300,000 people tortured, raped and killed in a very short time. I would recommend this site for anyone in Nanjing. Everything is well labelled and captioned in English. More

That this massacre has been hidden from much of the western world is an injustice to the Chinese of Nanjing. Happily, this museum addresses the horrors and injustices of the Japanese army on the good people of Nanjing. Be prepared for gruesome and distressing images and descriptions. It was not somewhere I wanted to go, but felt I owed it... More

Very few historical museums in the world have impressed me more than this one. Lots of English translated materials throughout the museum and vast art and historical installations throughout the complex. More

I have never been to a Jewish holocaust museum but I imagine that it would be much like this. The exhibits were hard-hitting with photos and even real skeletons which they dug up and partially-reburied inside the museum. Personally I think the bones should have been laid to rest but.... I remember particularly the interview they had filmed with survivors... More

If you don't mind seeing the horror of the history that is recorded in the memorial hall this is a must see in Nanjing. I feel that the memorial hall give an all rounded account of this terrible historial event. The English translation is considered quite well done compared to other tourist places I have visited in China. There is... More

This is a museum that every visitor to Nanjing should visit. It is very big with excellent English captions. However the subject is harrowing so be prepared. We went over a holiday period so it was very busy even though the staff were trying to control the flow of visitors. More

An absolute "must see" to understand and appreciate Nanjing. Do your homework first and read a bit about the Japanese invasion of China first so that you have some background knowledge. Read about Iris Chang. Study your map of the city. It is an absolute shame that while public American high schools spend so much time on some other genocides... More
