Only real gimmick here is the fact it is a floating restaurant as the food and service are pretty substandard. Having said that the the little boat ride out there is fun and the views is OK.

Trip on a Sampan well worth the $10 fare, see the local fishing fleet, the Jumbo Floating Restaurant and the house boats.

This is one of the best experience I had in Hong Kong. I love the sampan ride even though it is only for 20-30minutes. Paid around HKD30 per pax for the ride. Visited the famous Jumbo floating restaurant, fishing village and all those luxury private boats along the place.
I'm quite phobia with deep water and yes, the sea really...

If you live in HK it's definitely worth a trip. I'm not sure how much of a draw the floating restaurant would be, but I like the neighbourhood.

I was very disappointed with this visit, you navigate alongside very tall and modern buildings and some old houseboats. There are some old fishing boats and a big restaurant, but besides this not anything worth a while.

Lots of fun to ride around the harbour, watch the kites (birds) soaring, and good to have lunch at the Jumbo Restaurant.

Aberdeen was site of the original Hong Kong fishing village when the English showed up. When folks started calling the whole island Hong Kong, they changed the name to Aberdeen after the fishing village in Scotland. Aberdeen still is a fishing village. On both sides of the fishermen's harbor there are splendid promenades for strolling, watching the sampans and fishing...

We were on a half day tour of HK island and we arrived at Aberdeen Harbour where we could pay for an extra i.e. a sampan ride.
It was a fantastic experience seeing the massive floating restaurant contrasting with the many floating boats of the less fortunate.

We paid HKD60 per person for a 30 minutes boat ride around the habour. The Aberdeen floating village is located within the habour, which made out of Aberdeen West Typhoon Shelter (香港仔西避風塘) and Aberdeen South Typhoon Shelter (香港仔南避風塘). It is also the home to Aberdeen Marina, which the rich and famous park their yachts, and the famous Jumbo Kingdom (珍寶王國)...

The junks city is a thing from the past. It burned in 1983 to allow building a few more sky scrappers. The floating restaurant is a tourist trap. Located far from the centre, it is just not worth the trip.
