Hong Kong's best places to eat are small, elbow-to-elbow affairs, and its streets can be crowded, which is why we limit our walks to a maximum of three persons. You'll learn about Hong Kong and what makes it tick from award winning professionals, food and travel journalists. We work with you to design a Hong Kong experience that's perfect for you. If you like culture and history, then it's back streets, hidden temples, old Chinese neighborhoods--even a haunted house! If you love Chinese food, then get ready to indulge. Hong Kong has tens of thousands of restaurants and noodle shops, but like most HKers, we are diehard foodies and have located all the best! (We speak and read Cantonese, so no worries about Chinese-only menus.). Whatever your profession or interest, we can craft a program that will give you the useful information and local intelligence you need to feel at home in Asia's most cosmopolitan city. Our director and your host, Daisann McLane, has unparalleled experience in finding and getting to the heart of the world’s great places. She’s an award winning travel journalist and columnist with National Geographic Traveler, and before that she spent six years roaming the world as the New York Times’ “Frugal Traveler” columnist. She fell in love with Hong Kong: she wants you to fall in love with this great city, too. « less

Daisann was one of the best guides we've had on our travels. Extremely knowledgeable about HK, it's people, food and culture she engaged us throughout the morning as we toured backstreets, street temples and food shops we would never have found without her help and certainly not understood. Her travels around the world and 16 years in HK certainly gave... More

For our first trip to Hong Kong, with little time to spare, we wanted to find someone who could show us “what we couldn’t find on own”. Daisann made sure that was exactly what we got, in a mere half day booking. When asked if we had any special interests, I mentioned that I would like to know about what... More

Daisann was a wonderful host and really good company. She took me around areas I would not have discovered on my own and gave some tips on what to do in my remaining time here too. We had Yum Cha with locals, browsed the local dried food markets and she has a wealth of knowledge about all the things you... More

This was my first trip to Hong Kong and I was looking for someone to give me an honest, unadulterated taste of the city. And boy did Daisann deliver. I was taken to places I most likely wouldn't have either found or gone to on my own. We went from tiny, whole in the wall cheap eats to Michelin starred... More

My partner and I spent three days with Daisann on a recent visit to Hong Kong. I've visited the city many times before, but this was the first time that I've really felt like I experienced as it should be experienced. We ate brilliantly, we saw things that we wouldn't have otherwise, and Daisann allowed us to live like locals... More

While tagging along on a business trip with my husband in Hong Kong I arranged to have a private tour with Daisann. What a wonderful way to spend a morning! Daisann is no ordinary tour operator. She is an American journalist who has written for a number of prestigious publications and has lived in Hong Kong for at least a... More

Old Hong Kong still exists, but you need a guide who knows where it is and what it means. Daisanne loves Hong Kong – both the gleaming modern city and the frayed Cantonese side streets -- and her love for the town’s history, food and people shines through. Some of the things Daisanne introduced me to: A time warp of... More

This was a thoughtfully crafted walking tour based on my interests in the history of Hong Kong and its current culture. Starting at the Foreign Correspondents Club, Daisann shared her city with me. From historical colonial buildings to fascinating neighborhood markets to a beautiful city garden, Daisann spent the morning introducing me to her city. There were charming details like... More
