Stanley, located at the southern of Hong Kong island, is much more relaxed with beaches, hills and coves. You will find the western atmosphere in this small Chinese town. « less

Stanley has a South of France resort type feel (possibly even South of England if you ignore the 90 degree heat ) and is a pleasant excursion . The taxi fee to get there is reasonable particularly if a few people can share the cab . There is indeed a lot of tat in the market but also some better... More

This is a town on the southern shores of Hong Kong Island though it is only reachable by bus, and getting here by bus can be difficult at best. There is really nothing here that you can't see anywhere else in Hong Kong and is probably a place to see once if you really want to. There are foreshore restaurants... More

Enjoy the bus ride from central around Repulse Bay and other beaches! Stanley itself is pretty and a nice place to go for a walk. It can be hard to find a table around lunchtime, especially on weekends, you may have to walk away from the centre (prices are cheaper too), but it is only a small place so there... More

It was a planned trip. So, I'm going to share here. We had our scrumptious lunch at Maxim Palace Dim Sum, City Hall. (You may see my review of Maxim Palace at Tripadvisor). After lunch, we took a Citibus No.6A from City Hall to Stanley. The ride took about 45 minutes. It's a scenic ride. We enjoyed the ride. Love... More

I enjoyed the drive to Stanley as you experience the hills, the views over HK, and a surprising lush nature just a couple of minutes out of the extreme density of HK. The views when approaching Stanley are really nice, but let you fear that the extreme property boom in HK will soon change the nature around the coast and... More

We took Bus 6 (not bus 6x), and sat up top and in the front. We buckled our seat belts for that crazy ride! We loved the scenery we were able to see on that ride!! Stanley was a good place to see. It's a good break from the city. However, if you are very experienced with beach towns, you... More

I'd been given mixed signals about Stanley, but I'm so glad that I took the punt. The bus ride is terrific. You see so many aspects of Hong Kong and if you are on the top deck, the perspective is great. The town of Stanley is a world away from HK city. It has a lovely outlook, a cruisey bar... More

We caught local buses to and from Stanley and had a really lovely day's outing as a result. Upon arrival we visited the markets and had fun doing some shopping there. We also wandered along the waterfront and had a leisurely lunch at one of the cafes, checked out Blake Pier and its surroundings and ensured we had our daily... More

Stanley is a refreshing change from the hustle and bustle of the city. So easy to get to by local bus catching number 6, 6X or 260 from Central bus station. My advice to travel around HK on the MTR or the local buses is to get the Octopus Card, quick, convenient and very good value (local buses do not... More

When I read all the reviews on here i thought wow can't wait to see this place. What a disappointment. Nothing to see here. If you want to walk through tacky market then this is your place. If you want to sit and look at the sea this is your place. But not authentic Hong Kong. Pizza express,McDonald's and Starbucks... More
