The wall is impressive, but... the pollution takes your breath away. Fortunately, there were fruit trees in bloom and the weather was nice. The crowds are everywhere. Ride the luge down!

In a land where there are people here, people there, people everywhere, visiting this non touristy section of the Wall was indeed a treat. Never expected a cable lift to take us up to the top (there is a charge for this) but unless you're a hardcore hiker, this is a good option as it allows you more time on...

We loved walking the wall. This location has a cable car which takes you to the top of the wall. One drawback was the demanding vendors who attack you as you go up to the cable car. However, there is an expansive view of the wall.
This section of the wall has 10% of the people and better views than other areas. It is a strenuous walk in areas, for the less fit you can ride the cable car up and down. The slide down is fun and seeing where the wall has not been restored (at either end) is very interesting.
Easy to get to from our airport hotel - 1 hour by private car - cost about £50. Get the cable car up and the tobogan down, great fun. Buy the tea shirts from the vendors, how can you go wrong at $1 each!!!! Note that the beer in cafe is expensive - £3 each - Wow!!! :-)
The great wall at Mutianyu. Simply wonderful experience! I you are in the neighbourhood a must see! Walk on the path that is build in 1404 with a length of almost 5000 km! Humbling experience
This is a fantastic area of the Great Wall -- much to my surprise, there were not a lot of people, so we felt like we had the place to ourselves. Great scenery, took the chair lift up and the toboggan slide down -- sounds hokey, but fun and very scenic. Definitely the highlight of the trip
This is the only section of wall I have been to--but I really enjoyed it. It was not crowded at all -only passed a handful of people the whole time. Some parts are really steep but that made it fun and had wonderful views of the mountains. Blossoms were also out on the mountainsides. Made for some good pictures with...

We enjoyed a sunny day on the Great Wall without a lot of other tourists. This location we're told has fewer tourists which allowed for more picture taking.
