We got locked in the forbidden city (a little ironic) due to a VIP visit. As the only exit at this end of the Palace Museum/Forbidden City is through the Imperial Garden, it kind of took the shine off it. It could have been a safety issue as the guards had locked the doors and visitors had no way of... More

Like much of the palace museum, the crowds can get to the point where you can't enjoy it. Go early More

Beautiful flowers but you have to fight thru the crowds to see anything. Not the highlight of the tour. More

This garden, at the back (north) end of the Forbidden City, is an unexpected delight, among many beautiful sights. Though there were lots of people, it was still peaceful and lovely, and one can imagine the people of a few hundred years ago strolling here in the evening. Well worth a stroll yourself to the far end of the City. More

This sight you'll see either you want it or not since it is on the way out from the forbidden palace. It is nice but watch out for the closing time since they start herding the people out some time before stopping people from going against the flow the last 15-20 min. If you want to experience the Imperial Garden... More

A must see, but I highly recommend seeing it when it is clear. We were there when it was "foggy" (ie. smog) and you could not even see the palace across the lake. Also, avoid weekends if you can, it gets crazy packed with people. More

It has many historical values within it. The front part is better than the rear section of the palace. More
