The museum is small, but a great lesson in how to be humble, polite and respectful. It's a must-see when in Lamu Town.

Not extremely rich with museum artifacts but worth visiting when in Lamu to get a historical perspective of the history and traditions of Lamu.

A guided tour explaining the origins of the town and Swahili culture is a great way to find out more about your surroundings.

Lots of interesting information here, although the museum looks as though it hasn't been touched for a few decades. Clean and informative, well worth an hour or so of your time.

The museum features a lot of Swahili culture. Much of the artifacts on display were about Swahili (but I cannot complain because Lamu is a Swahili town anyway). There is the option of a guided tour (with extra charges). Nothing very much out of the ordinary though

This is an unexpected treat in Lamu. A very well organized and informative museum. We loved the replications of traditional Swahili rooms and the different displays of cultural dress. A very good way to spend a couple of hours in Lamu.

One of the most dusty museums I´v ever seen. Hardly any explinations to any object. It could have been interesting about the culture and the trade but it´s not. If you are in Lamu go there, pay the horendous price of 500Shs, stay there for 30 min and leave with the same knowledge as you came with.

Its a very well maintained museum, packed with interesting information about Lamu's history with many beautiful ancient artefacts and displays. We went one afternoon when it was raining, and it was still very quiet in the museum, an added bonus of freedom. I...
