Beautiful area for a day trip or afternoon drive - made famous in Out Of Africa as Karen Blixen loved them. Not far from the city. If you don't have a car, hire a local taxi from town, fix a price for the half day trip, not expensive. Ask a Kenyan what Ngong means - interesting!

Very nice to relax on top! The hustle is to get there. Needs at least half day to get to the first peak. Be careful of buffallos but they inhabit in the forested areas especially the crater floor. The views are super as you are able to see the green side and the dry side of the hills.

A beautiful walk but it takes a little stamina to climb these hills. Remember you are 2800 meters above sea level. We had some problems to find our way. You must go to the Kenya Forest Service where they tell you to hire guards, in our case two. They come with their guns This felt totally unnecessary, the walk was... More

We traveled this way to visit family. It had beautiful scenary. However, this was THE bumpest road I have ever been on in life. Its a windy ride, tried to take photos but none came out because of all the bouncing. Make sure to stay away if raining because the streets look like mud so i can imagine it would... More

The Ngong Hills are breathtaking and a surprise. However, be sure to drive around "Corner Baridi" and see the Maasai lands BEHIND Ngong Hills. Do not just look at the views towards Nairobi. Drive all the way to "Ole Polos" and see stunning African scenery. You feel like you are in a movie.

The hills are beautiful, much of Kenya is...however this is not a safe area. First off go with a big group, and hire a guard or handle a gun. I went with two other people, one a woman, and the only warning signs would be hindsight. There were no guards on the way, we later found out the guards woke... More

Ngong is the name the Maasai gave the hills - it is named for the sound of God's fist hitting the hills and explains why it looks like it does - knuckles of an Almighty fist. It was a magnificent view - it seemed like a world stretching before us - rivers, lakes, plains and distance volcanoes. Then all of... More

This is a good hike for the fit at heart...the trek is trecherous towards the end especially when the hills look synced, hence the need for a fit heart to push on. Start that walk early as the sun can be too harsh at noon. Have an armed Kenya Wildlife Service guide hired as there at times can be wild... More
