For those who are driving, Lake Naivasha is a convenient between Lake Nakuru and Maasai Mara. The 1,5 to 2 hour stop is adequate for the boat ride and walk on Crescent Island which is without predators, so you can walk up to the antelopes, waterbucks, wildebeests, zeebras and giraffes. Well, at least as close as they generally let you.... More

The boat tour is popular as a birding destination but even more so for viewing its large population of hippos. I expected a landing site with a good size boat full of tourists with binoculars but I was way off. We turned off a village road down a narrow tall hedge lined bumpy dirt road that at the end opened... More

We saw lots of birds and hippos on this trip. The lake level was very high because of the rain fall but it was good to see all the animals. I would suggest if your in the area go for a boat trip to see the wildlife from a different way.

Decided to visit Naivasha for a weekend with friends. Was a laid back one, and thought we could try the boat ride. Am greatful for my guides advice, that i book a boat ride, then will disembark at a certain point, do a walk and be picked up from another side! sounded wow, and no regrets at all. Although the... Great experience, Lake Naivasha has wonderful birds, hippos, zebras, giraffes, water eagles. The cost for two people for 2 hours was approx $100 USD but we saw so much beauty in that time it was well worth the price of admission. Guides are knowledgeable. Boast are safe and each passenger is required to wear a floatation device. A Rift Valley... More

This was the only disappointing park of our 2 week Kenya safari. Perhaps it would have been more meaningful had we visited at the start of our trip rather than more than halfway through. The lake is pretty but being overtaken by an abundance of plant life - probably from fertilzer contamination from the surrounding green houses. We took the... More

Lake Naivasha – What an experience!! This was NOT in our tour package/itinerary but we think it should have been. The boat ride on the lake is an experience! We got close to hippos, flamingos and saw “crescent island” where the famous movie “Out of Africa” was shot. We even got to watch an eagle fetch a fish out of... More

We were brought by our guide to a Lake Naivasha boat tour. We paid $200 for our group of seven and boarded a low, small boat (really, a canoe) with an outboard engine. I was excited for this experience, but that turned to concern as we soon passed many hippos several yards away. We did not feel safe being in... More

We hesitated about taking the time out from our drive back from Samburu to explore Naivasha. But this was well worth it. A maribou stork greeted us (PS - these guys are big) on the dock, just before we got into the boat. The tour guide was excellent - he showed us all over the lake, where we spotted quite... More

I've lived in Kenya for 6 years have been to various parts of Naivasha lake and surrounding game parks. I went with my fiance at the time this September to Crescent Island to take our engagement pictures. The photographer is our friend and a very talented man. We were excited because we went to Crescent Island for a walking safari... More
