Hatshepsut favored by us as a woman ruler employing the manly Pharaoh's imagery and yet excelled, surpassing all with her Temple at Deir el Bahari; beware of some of the reliefs are plaster (Chapel of Hathor); Beautiful figured scenes and exquisite hieroglyphs as well as the incredible tall cliffs and terraced temple; too bad there is now an asphalt road... Out of all the things we learnt about I found this the most interesting story and did not really know a lot about this person before I went. There is a cafe at the temple but it is very pricey and they have a few shops as well. More

History of this female Pharaoh is quite interesting as is the temple she erected. I recommend reading about it beforehand or going with a guide. Best early in the morning. More

We recently took a trip to the West Bank of Luxor with our taxi driver Abdul No 46 to Hatshepsut and really enjoyed the experience. It is a wonderful site and well worth taking in if you want to see one of the true wonders of Luxor. On the same day we also traveled onto Neqada - a small town... More

Remember this temple backs onto the hill that forms the valley of the kings, and is directly in line with Luxor temple, some 5 kilometers away -... More
