Had less than an hour until closing but so glad I was able to see this lovely house museum. Everything in the house is beautiful, and parts of it feel like someone still lives there. I was lucky enough to go with a wonderful tour guide Ahmed Seddik (www.ahmedseddik.com) and also to join a small tour with the amazingly enthusiastic...

I walked here from the Sa'd Zaghlul metro and while I never felt unsafe it was certainly was not the most pleasant walks in Cairo. The area east of the museum is very impoverished and there were garbage collection problems where large piles of dumped waste lined the streets and footpaths. The house museum itself is a worthwhile visit when combined...

This museum is a treasure. It is a wonderful complex of 16th and 17th century building restored in the 1930s by a British officer serving in Cairo. If you are a fan of the beautiful mashrabiyya screen still to found in old Cairo this museum in lavishly supplied with them. This means the light throughout the house is filtered and...

Located besides an incredible mosque with an amazing Iraqui style minaret, the place is has an interesting collection. It somehow does not seem to be presented interestingly. Anyhow the old houses are beautiful

Unfortunately currently closed, this lovely house was the cherished home of Gayer-Anderson who appears to have eclectically collected anything that crossed his path. Good photos and letters from an interesting life.

I didn't have high expectations going here because I'm not really into the Victorian era, but it was an amazing place. This is a converted house in the middle of Cairo which is laid out like a labyrinth. There are a variety of exhibits here from ancient to Victorian times and it is a worthwhile place to visit.
