So there are a couple things worth seeing here, but really not that many. I found the clothes and pictures of King Thibaw and Queen Supayalat very interesting, but they were in a terrible state of conservation. There are a few other artefacts worth examining, but overall it's not worth a huge detour. The Mandalay palace replica makes you realise... More

Don't be put off by the fact that it's an old-fashioned place with lots of artefacts simply displayed in cabinets; the best items such as the golden throne are spectacular. We learned a lot about Burma's history and culture and saw some superb jewellery, furniture etc. We enjoyed it very much. More

Too hot, no explanations on many items. But worth seeing the few items that come from pre-colonial era. More

Having read a number of adverse reviews we were not expecting much from our visit but we were pleasantly surprised. This is certainly not the world's greatest museum and don't go there expecting anything outstanding. However, as a collection of Myanmar's history, art, and culture, and even pre-history, it has a lot going for it. Items range from some splendid... More

Met by a woman going tru our bags in a very aggressive way and then charging a high rate for foreigners , we expected a lot of very valuable artefacts. In fact there are none. It is a series of exhibitions, folk costumes that nobody could wear and models everywhere, of houses, dresses, jewellery etc. The labels are bad but... More
