I liked the old churches, colorful buildings and narrow streets framed against the steep mountains. Our guide drove us around to show us this area. He dropped us off at a little plaza which I didn't care for though. It was full of hippies, dirty and reeked of pot. Otherwise I found this neighborhood charming.

Nice experience. Don't go there of you have a sort spot for puppy's. Or if your partner has such a soft spot. There are puppy's are for sale and you might end up with one!

Don't stay out here after dark, my friend who lives there got robbed at knifepoint. Other than that there are many cute shops and restaurants with handi crafts and more. Some parts are cleaner than others. It's teaming with students and travelers staying at hostels. Very 'young' area so be prepared for loud music, crowds, and noise.

Must see for all visitors to Bogota. It's the colonnial past of the country and its political present. It can easily be walked through in a morning or an afternoon and some of the main sights are all here: the Presidential Palace, the Congress, the Cathedral, Museums, and cultural centers. You haven't been to Bogota unless you've visited La Candelaria.

The old colonial houses in calle10 and 11 are beautiful and the Santa Clara Church is wonderful as is the gold museum and the museum National but the area is filthy and covered in graffiti. We didnt feel safe here at nightime. Visit during the day for the museums. Also all the best...

After I came back from a morning walk around La Candelaria, I was told by a number of people that I really shouldn't have gone there alone. I started at 8a and walked the streets for an hour until the museums opened at 9. By then, I knew where I was going and (hopefully) didn't look too much like a...
