What I assumed would be a tourist oriented venue that played upon the human greed for gold was instead an opening of a door to cultural mysteries that I had been educated to believe had been destroyed with the Spanish conquests. What secrets were revealed by the artifacts in this Museum! A lovely, intellegent building to display what has survived. More

Great place to spend a hot afternoon. But don't come in a rush or if you are tired. Take at least a couple of hours and spend the extra 3 dollars on the electronic guide earphones. You want be disappointed. The history lesson in itself is worth the trip. The pure gold exhibits, almost a 1000 in total are mind... More

An amazing musuem with a small entrance fee. I have never seen something similar before in my life. You can rent an audio guide. Invest half a day for this! The main focus is on Gold and how the Spanish people behaved so from a historical point of view it is very interesting. I recommend this to anybody because you... More

Visiting this museum gave a completely different perspective on gold and its importance in life of people of South America as compared to Europe. You will see great goldsmiths' work which does not seem ( to me) as sophisticated as Egyptian or European but the stories behind those pieces of art are so enchanting that you will not stop surprising... A great building with a number of floors that take you through the years of the history of gold in Colombia - starting at earliest records, there are explanations and descriptions written in English and Spanish under most windows. There is an entrance fee, but even if this is not usually your thing, it will take your breath away when... More
