The house was very well refurbished after a good research was done. They found the original kitchen! One can imagine Bolivar in the house and walking around the peaceful gardens. More

After you visit Monserrate, walk down the hill to the Quinta de Bolivar. The cost is only 3k pesos, about a $1.50. For a small bit extra, get the audio tour-it is worth it! The house is fascinating as is the history it has seen. You will learn about Simon Bolivar, his mistress, his life, the times in which he... More

For a mere 3,000 pesos, you can explore the house that was occupied by Simon Bolivar for about 10 years until his death in 1830. They have some great furniture pieces and the place is nicely restored. Spend time wandering in the huge labyrinth gardens that surround the place with a variety of trees, plants and a veggie garden. It... More

That kind of museum I enjoy because there's an intimacy with the person who lived there, ate there, bathed there, entertained there. Their presence becomes more than any written words could tell me. More

I walked its various paths and viewed how Simón lived here! Though I laughed when seeing his Liberator's room... It was too small for a great character. More

Although close to the city this quinta is so relaxing, surrounded by the trees and the bath which Simon Boliver apparently used every morning. A visit is recommended. More

It is best if you go with a guide to tell you all the stories. We had a Spanish speaking guide. I don't know if they have any English speaking ones. I was overwhelmed by the sense of History and the impact that one man can have over the entire destiny of a region. Be sure to check out the... More
