The museum is housed in a former prison close to the city centre. There is hardly any sign in English and the the exhibition is hard to appreciate unless you know a lot about the history of this part of the world. More

Set in a XIX- century prison. this panopticon is an architectural jewel in the middle of caothic bogotá. The collections are worth a visit. Luckily you can have lunch in the variety of restaurants nearby in the neighborhood known as La Macarena. Try to ignore the quarries around it though. More

This museum holds permanent exhibitions that show Colombia's history, located inside a beautiful and historical building. There also some interesting peaces of art that also contrast modern times with those long gone. We have had a great time at this wonderful place, the three tmes we've been there to see the different exhibitions they have. Try not to miss it...... More

Sorry for the cheesy title, but this old converted jail in the heart of Bogota really is worth the visit. From the outside it doesn't look too exciting, - and at the moment the city is undergoing massive infrastructure upgrading and you can't even get in the main doors at the front as the pavement and road has been dug... Museum gives you some background information about Columbia from a few 1000 years ago up to now. Also includes a modern art section. All texts are in Spanish, for each area they have an overview and description of selected pieces in English. Nice ouitside seating area (if it is warm enough and not raining). More
