I was surprised by the number of locals who take advantage of the closed city streets on Sundays. I walked from Zona Rosa to Usaquen via the Ciclovia, and in addition to the folks enjoying the sun and exercise, there were food and drink stands set up along the way for a quick refreshment. More

The city closes some major routes to cars every Sunday and holiday, and it's bicycles only. As always in Bogota, you have to look out for scammers who will try to find a way to talk you out of your bike ("let me ride it for a minute, it looks really smooth") but this is a great way to spend... Sundays for Ciclovia are a great time to walk around the city, unmolested by car and bus traffic. A lot of streets are open for pedestrians and bikes. You can rent bikes in Candelaria area and they have bike repair stations along the routes. It's also fine to walk since there are some street performers, dance lessons, exercise classes, and... More

Carrera 15(as well as some other streets) is closed for traffic from 7am - 2pm. Our hotel (Hotel Cite) had bikes which their guests could use for free. So we took them for a spin and rode up and down Carrera 15. Many people walking, jogging and kids on roller-skates and bikes. Have a coffee on one of the terraces... More

Who ever heard of a large city closing major streets on Sunday so that people can ride bikes, skate, run, walk, etc.? It's a sight to see and you should participate. There are lots of people, but it's a peaceful, quiet experience. Each week I can hardly wait until Sunday! More

Very popular with locals, we took a walk along some of the ciclovia and saw locals enjoying their Sunday. Depends which part you cycle or walk along as to how interesting the scenery is, but I enjoyed getting out of the tourist area and in amongst locals. More

You should definitely experience this -- whether by bike or on foot. It's an idea now replicated in many cities around the world -- done well here despite the congestion of the city. Every Sunday from around 9-2, also holiday Mondays, and one night ciclovia in December (6th?). More
